Staying at hotel in town, called for a pick up order. Got a little lost looking for the place, construction zone. Should have got delivery! Staff talked me in. Average NY theme. TV's are small but I was leaving anyway. Beer was good and cold as I had one while waiting. Pizza was great . Hot, fresh, plenty of toppings and flavorful. Not a crumb was left over, family of 5 . Staff were very helpful and pleasant, got a nice tip for that reason. Would visit again if returning to the area.

True NY pizza! Crisp crust, not too thin & hand tossed. Great service & convenient from hotel in Mt Pleasant. Nice not to deal with the hustle of downtown after a long day!

Great delivery hot and fresh. No complaints about taste or quality all around our new delivery option.

We called to order delivery from this place and before even taking our order he mentioned there was a 35.00 minimum for delivery. We are only ordering for a total of 2 people so we don't need 35.00 of pizza. I could understand if we were far distance but we are only 3 miles. We will not be ordering from them. Also, if you do have that minimum it should be mentioned clearly on the site before you waste your time looking over the menu and calling. Really unfortunate because it looked good.

In town for the weekend to do some sightseeing. Pizza was good, fresh, hot. The dining room could use some more atmosphere, but oh well. We liked it but it really didn't compare to Mellow Mushroom. Wish we had gone back to Mellow Mushroom for more!

Really good, thin crust pizza. We tried three kinds and loved them all. No leftovers. Too bad! Salads were fresh and big enough to share. Smallest TVs of any pizza place ever.

Pizza is just okay. Service is sloooooooow. Ordered a med cheese and some garlic rolls, it took 20 minutes to get the order out. Closest pizza to my house, but probably won't go back

Always like to stop in the Mt Pleasant store for a pie when we're in town, and Matt's PD never disappoints. Ever. Group tonight had garlic knots (ask for marinara sauce and the garlic butter), wings (hot, extra crispy), a cheese pie and another with sausage, feta and onion. All systems go! You can always tell a committed owner by the quality of the food, ingredients and service. The food was outstanding, everything is made from scratch (really! I asked) and our server did a fantastic job. No doubt: We'll be back.

Very solid pizza! It's *almost* NY style...if they made the dough a bit thinner, it would be a slam dunk but overall, very good. The garlic knots were excellent! The service was very pleasant.

I'm not a huge pizza fan but I order delivery from here pretty regularly. It is one of the few delivery places in Mt. P that hasn't failed to disappoint. Delivery times are fairly regular between 30-45min. Both the pizza and salads always seem to hit the spot. Definitely recommend it if you are hungry and don't feel like leaving the house.

I like this place, it reminds me of the pizza shops I worked at as a kid. I had a sandwich, don't yell at me because I went to a pizza shop and didn't get pizza but I had pizza last night with the kids. I had a buffalo chicken sand, half of which is with me now, big portions. The sandwich was solid and will bring me back to eat the pizza for sure. I loved the set up where you could see the thin crust pizzas being made. The young lady at the counter was super accomidating, the register was broken but she just laughed and went to writing it down...now that made me feel like a kid again as we wrote everything! I saw a table of guys by me folding the pizza in half as they gracefully shoved it in their face, yes true NY huge slices. One last funny share. The guys who were eating the pizza were telling a story that I heard and laughed. One guy said you know why most NY pizza places never really make it outside of NY?....it's the water! The water from NY comes from Niagra Falls and that's what gives NY pizza it's signature taste. No, really!!!! Lol. Check this place out, hope you too get the laugh and experience I did there.

Good pizza. Good prices. They have been in business for quite a while in this spot, so they must be doing something right. They had a special today - spaghetti and a meatball with garlic bread and a drink for $6. A good value for the money. Very tasty. Also had a margherita pizza. Lots of cheese and a delicious pizza dough. Not the best pizza in the area but, again, not bad either. You won't regret coming here.

I have NEVER ordered here & not had the order messed up! Every time I order, they forget something, bring the wrong items, or, as with my most recent order, send a driver to the house (after we waited an hour) with NO order for us at all! I called the restaurant & they had no idea where my order was, said they had "no record" of it....so how did a driver get our address & a receipt that he had me sign if there is not record of the order?! The service is absolutely terrible here! There are many other good pizza places in the Mt P area..don't waste your time here!

Overall, the pizza was really good. It was just the right amount of cheese, sauce, and toppings. The pizza also had a delicious, thin crust! The one star deduction is a result of the service: I was in town visiting family on Saturday, so we decided to make it an easy dinner and order pizza. after browsing through local pizza places on yelp, I found Matt's Pizza Department. Ordering for a large family, and several picky children, we decided to make things easy and order an XXL half-cheese and half pepperoni. I placed my order and without being told when the order would be ready (granted, I should have asked), I hung up the phone. When I went to the register to pick up my pizza, I was informed that the order had been placed as an XXL pepperoni pizza, not the half-cheese half-pepperoni I had requested. After addressing this error, the girl at the register responded by repeating it was a pepperoni pizza and then just staring at me. I get it; I've worked hospitality; it's not always easy to fix a mistake. I stared back until one of the pizza makers working the line directly next to her told me they would correct the error and make a new pizza. In the end, they gave me a small cheese pizza rather than having me wait for a new pie. When I got back to the house, it was confirmed that I had indeed stated "half-cheese half-pepperoni. So, thank you to the kind gentleman at Matt's pizza Dept that deserves a raise for his ability to make pizza and work the front of the house more efficiently than the individual hired to do so. TLDR; Good pizza. One disgruntled employee. But my family was pleased and will be returning.

Was in the mood for Pizza and checked out yelp to find a place I could trust. Sure enough was not disappointed. We go to Charleston a few times a month and Matt's in right on the way. We ordered to go, and the scent of it in the back seat became more than we could take and pulled over to take a bite! It was awesome!! We had been looking for a good pizza place for a long time and I believe we have found it. I would strongly recommend it! Yum

I've never dined in, only ordered delivery. The pizza is good, I always enjoy it. The salads are okay. The wings are pretty gross. Pizzas: I wish the specialty pizzas were thicker and they put more toppings on them or keep them the same and lower the pricing. The stuffed pizza is awesome, you just have to ask for extra sauce because they definitely do not give you nearly enough compared to all that dough. Salads: The salads are fine but I could make the exact same salads for a fraction of what they price their salads at. Example: Your typical Chef Salad with sliced turkey and ham, American cheese, hard boiled eggs slices, tomatoes, cucumber, red onion. This is 9 bucks before tax. If they priced it at 6 bucks, they would still be making a killing on them. Wings: They should just not make these. Super freaking expensive first of all. Super fatty. Medium to small sized. I order 20 BBQ, ate 4 and threw away 16. $13.00 down the drain. Delivery: They are pretty quick and give the appropriate estimated waiting time. They are friendly and usually give a smile.

Good pizza. We were a little overwhelmed as we tried to figure out what to order. On the overhead board is a HUGE list of custom ingredients to add to your pizza, but no typical ones like "meat lovers" or "the works". After staring at the board for several minutes, they offered us menus, which had those sought-after done-for-you choices. But my family couldn't agree on anything, so we tried to order by the slice, but discovered that option is lunch only. So we were thrown back into heavy negotiations for several more minutes until we hammered out a peaceful accord. Overall, between the board, the menu, and a separate "specials" standing board, the ordering/decision process was a bit stressful for a first visit. Familiarity would fix that over time, I guess, but I'd prefer a little better organization to the menu, and not feel like I need to look on three places at once to order our food. We started with a house salad which only cost a couple dollars and was HUGE. Quite a nice surprise. The meatball appetizer was great for my kid, and we were all able to get plenty of pizza from their "large" which is their smallest outside of a personal pizza. The pizza was great. Whether or not it's "authentic New York" is up to you. I don't really care, to be honest. If it's good, it's good. Service was surprisingly good. I wasn't really expecting any service after ordering at the counter, but they came by numerous times to check on us and see if we needed anything. We will definitely be back.

This used to be my go to spot years ago when it was N.Y.P.D. (New York Pizza Dept) and I'm pretty sure they were forced to change the name. Not sure what happened but I just stopped ordering from here and moved on to some of the others around the area. I recently re-discovered this place and have placed 2 orders in the past couple weeks. I'm not sure what sent me astray in the first place but I am definitely back in. The prices are decent and the two times I placed recent orders there was some sort of special as well... make sure to ask. Everyone has different taste on pizza and this one's not my absolute favorite but it's very good. Enough to keep me coming back.

After being in NYC a little over a month ago, I can honestly say this isn't like NYC pizza. The crust was way too crispy and didn't fold well. The taste of the pizza was good though. It was meatless Friday for me, so I went with the vegetarian. I think I read this was once NYPD, which I had in Summerville. I was a big fan of them. This place, is alright.

The process from ordering to receiving was amazing. The person who took our order was super nice and accurate. The wait to get the food was 45 minutes but still worth it. We got the BBQ chicken and the buffalo chicken, both were amazing and would highly recommend.

Service was great, crust was perfect, cheesy yummy pizza. Andolini's sauce is a bit more tangy and their topping slices slightly larger. However, I felt Matt's sausage was much more flavorful. Excellent experience awesome atmosphere we will surely be back!

I like the pizza but customer service sucks big time. They are bit very friendly. Pizza is pretty good though. The pizza tastes fresh and it's so close to home. We eat here twice a month if not more out of convenience.

Just moved in near Matts so we were really hoping for good pizza. Excited to say... It was delicious!! Very, very fresh ingredients and perfectly cooked homemade dough. I can't wait to try all the different specialty pizzas! They were very accommodating with changing toppings with no extra fee. (Vegetable to meat and they didn't charge me! I did mention it was my first time, though.) Be sure to order 45 minutes to an hour before you want to eat because they cook the pizza in a stone oven. It's worth the wait!! When I went to pick up the pizza and saw the inside... I loved the place! They offer so beer and wine options, music was blasting, and it seemed like a laid back, fun atmosphere. We walked up for a lunch just a few days later and sat outside. They offer pizza by the slice and lunch specials. Perfect for quick lunch breaks! I definitely recommend it and the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was because it's a little pricey. I believe we got a medium with chicken, basil, onions and maybe one more topping and we spent 15-20. I don't exactly remember the price though, so check it out for yourself.

They have awesome pizza and sandwiches. I have had multiple items the chicken club sandwich is terrific ( I like mine with a little honey mustard). And their gluten free crust is the best I have had! Totally recommend over any other local pizza joint!

Got the pesto pizza with added meats, way to greasy it made the pizza slices soggy and you can't even hold the slice.... Meh just ok in my book.

We love Matt's pizza! We have tried their salads, calzones and pizzas and they are all delicious. They are also consistent. I hate when a restaurant is good one time and horrible the next, even when you ordered the same item. Matt's is consistently good and when you order something there are no surprises, you know you'll get what you're expecting.

I have gotten both delivery and gone in to eat. Evidently, they are great! They are always busy! However, no matter how busy they are, I always get very friendly service! As for delivery, I didn't have a menu, so the lady on the phone took the time to help me decide what I needed for the group I was ordering for. Everything I needed was delivered to me promptly. . pizza still hot, salad still cold and crisp. . . The next time, we went IN. . got to sit outside, pizza brought to us quickly. .again hot and delicious! Again, friendly service staff and great experience! As it is located between work and home, we pick up pizza from here whenever pizza night is in effect!

The pizza is pretty good. We always have trouble placing an order by phone though, the person never quite seems to get it without us repeating it several times, we don't go that often just because it's too frustrating to call in an order. They have scrwed up our order multiple times. They cheerfully fix it, and adjust the price (or give us the "oops" for free as an apology) but it increases the wait. Rating would be higher but for that.

Good NY style pizza! The oils drip off the pie and it's perfectly seasoned and not overly done(burned). I also like the fried cheese ravioli as an appetizer and, of course, being the meathead I am, love the meatball appetizer. The meatballs are each about the size of a tennis ball and scrumptious. Oh, the best part: THEY DELIVER and their staff is always friendly and prompt. I typically am the antithesis of an NYPD or any police dept advocate. But, this joint makes pizza so I'm giving myself a pass.

I guess its OK for NY style pizza. I'm from Chicago and this isn't my favorite style. I prefer Mellow Mushroom for this kind of pizza... plus they have a bazillion beers there to try. Matts pizza is actually not bad on the 2nd day (cold). I might even like it better on day 2. The sliced meatballs are their best topping, pretty tasty. All in all, its not bad.... and its close to home.

Good pizza, good prices. Lunch menu is a great value, I had the Italian hero yesterday and it was very good. A little difficult to find, its tucked in the little strip mall behind the CVS on the corner of Highways 17 and 41. Also have pizza by the slice for lunch!

Watch out folks - hidden gem here and even though it is an (evil) chain/franchise, this pizza rivals the famed "Andolinis". I realize that is near-heresy but this is some good stuff and while Andolinis' pizza is very good, most of the allure is in the atmosphere and the "mass hysteria" effect when mentioned that the boss will spring for lunch. But this isn't about Andolini's right? We're talkin' NYPD Unique choices of pies, fresh toppings, can eat in w/ some booze if that's your bag, and delivery is available. I was also juiced that they brought it out to Summerville. This one is right near a few friends of ours though, so this is still one we frequent. If you live on the North end of Mt. P, it is well worth the trip. Plus it saves you dragging yourself all the way over to Coleman.

This place gets four stars for pizza. I think if you want a good thin slice this is the place to go. They are very nice and have a great pie. Pizza places do not have to do much, but this place delivers. If you are looking for a good thin slice pizza go here. It is worth it!

Like it! I'm a Chicago girl which is a whole nother kinda pizza but this is good stuff. Love the Margherita pizza! Bouncy thin crust, yummy mozzarella and basil. Also customer service is great! We always get delivery and I had an issue ONCE where I had to wait on the phone for forever and then got put on hold again so finally hung up. Mentioned it on the website and received a phone call from the owner immediately. He apologized, got my order in and our pizza was delivered within a half hour followed by another phone call to make sure we had gotten the pizza and that it was enjoyable. All that for a $15 pizza is pretty good in my book (and I'm pretty sure it was complimentary this time). After searching for a decent pizza in this area (and sorry but Mellow Mushroom ain't all that great) it's nice to find this little gem. Like I said, it's not the Chicago style pizza I'm used to but if this is what New York style pizza tastes like I'm all about it too!

For 20 years, I have watched my wife and her brother chase every pizza joint, (within reasonable driving distance and some not so reasonable), that advertised New York Style Pizza. And for twenty years, they have yet to find a pizza that comes remotely close. They grew up in an Italian neighborhood in Long Island, NY, with a pizza parlor and deli on every corner. They know pizza. Sometimes on these jaunts, it gets downright embarrassing. Worse the pizza, the more animated they get. They will call the waitress over and ask to speak to the owner. The line of questioning usually starts innocently with what part of New York are you from. Then where did you get the ingredients. To where in New York do they serve pizza like this? One time, I think the line of questions almost made it to #20, which was what part of Italy did your family come from? The more annoyed and defensive the owner acts, the thicker my wife and bro law's New York accent gets. At the ten minute mark, they sound like Mona Lisa Vito and Vincent Gambini in My Cousin Vinny. Yes, they are Italians, and my wife always makes it a point to introduce herself using her maiden name when confronting the poor owners of the advertised NY Pizza style pizza joints. Like, they couldn't already tell with her jet black hair, green eyes, the olive color skin, and the way they both talk with their hands. So, I'm playing golf with my buddy. And he brings up NYPD Pizza, and says they make a pretty good NY Style pizza. I mention to him I'll check it out. Me: " Hi honey, done with golf. Jeffrey mentioned there was a good NY Style pizza place in Summerville, you wanna join me?" Marisa: " What? Jeffrey? You think Jeffrey knows what a good pizza is? Last week at his house, I saw frozen pizzas in his freezah. Are you kiddin' me? Forgetabout it. Me: "Okay, well I'm gonna stop, it's on the way home." Marisa: " Yeah, okay." I walk thru the doors to NYPD Pizza and noticed the sliced pizza and the open kitchen where they make the pies, and a counter. Since it was after lunch, I decided to sit in one of the back booths and soak in the atmosphere. The place was open, airy and and well decorated. It didn't feel like a mom and pop place. Then it hit me. This place is corporate. It's a franchise. No way was I gonna bring home a chain pie to Marisa. The smiling waitress came over, and I ordered a sweet tea. She dropped off the menu and sure enough, it was a franchise. I decided just to order a caesar grilled chicken salad and an appetizer. The salad was very good, just the right seasoning and plenty of chicken. The garlic golden knots were great with the right blend of garlic, butter and seasoning, baked to a golden brown. The dough was very good, which encouraged me to order a slice of cheese pizza. The pizza arrived very hot, on a plate. I let it cool off a couple of minutes, which gave me time to ready my palate. We had just been to New York three weeks ago, so I still remembered and knew the taste of what a real NY Pizza was supposed to taste and look like. So, I took the slice and held it straight out. The tip fell down and the cheese did not fall off. The bottom was a dark brown and slightly charred from the oven which was a good sign. The mozzerella cheese was not too greasy, the color and texture looked right. When I folded the slice in half, the slightly dark brown crust felt firm and did not break. I closed my eyes and took a firm bite. The initial taste of cheese, sauce and dough was very good. Really good. The pizza dough was just right. But then, what do I know. It still has to pass the Marisa and Vinny taste test. Me: " Honey, I'll be home in a few. I got you a large cheese pie. : Marisa: " Are you kiddin' me? I yelped the joint and some joker named Matt said the it's a chain. He gave it 4 stars but what does he know, he doesn't look Italian. Do not bring that thing in my house. You want baked ziti or rigatoni for dinner? Better yet, why don;t you eat that pie and I'll give the dog your ziti. She has more taste than you. " CLICK. Marisa was in the back yard watering her plants and flowers, I left the pizza on the breakfast table and headed for the showers. Thirty mins later, I'm walking thru the house and noticed the pizza box was open and a couple of slices missing. I heard her talking on the back porch. She was talking to Vinny on the cell and telling him this pie was "not too bad", which translates to pretty dang good. When she got off the phone, I acted like I just got out the shower and asked her how the pizza was. " It's alright". I asked her to elaborate. " I said it was alright! What do you want from me? I said it was alright." I think she really liked it. Her accent didn't thicken, and I noticed she didn't throw it away. Thanks, NYPD Pizza. Marisa won't be calling you to ask twenty questions. For this, I award you, 4 Stars.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations.
